These tubs have a metal base either cast iron or steel, with a porcelain finish that has been baked on at a high temperature.

 

The the tub can be cleaned with an acrylic bristle brush or pad along with a cleaner such as Bar Keepers Friend.

Acrylic

An acrylic bathtub is made with sheets of acrylic plastic. The sheets are heated, vacuum-formed in molds, then reinforced.

To clean you can use make an all-purpose cleaner using vinegar and water by mixing equal parts distilled white vinegar and warm water in a spray bottle.  Spray the solution on the tub and wipe with soft sponge or cloth. You can also use commercial cleaners such as CLR Bath & Kitchen Cleaner, Lysol Power Bathroom Cleaner, Method Bathroom Cleaner, Kaboom Foam-Tastic Bathroom Cleaner, Seventh Generation Disinfecting Bathroom Cleaner, Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day Bathroom Cleaner, and Simple Green All-Purpose Cleaner.

Fiberglass

Fiberglass bathtubs are made by weaving fine glass fibers with resin to create a fiber-like mat, which is then molded, heated, and coated with a resin gel coat for a smooth finish and protection.

FIberglass tubs should be cleaned once a week and waxed every 6 months.  To clean use a hydrogen peroxide based cleaner. It  cleans, sanitizes, and is safe on fiberglass. Mix equal parts of hydrogen peroxide and water in a spray bottle.  Spray on surface and wipe with a soft sponge or cloth. Commercial cleaners include Lysol with Hydrogen Peroxide Multi-Purpose Cleaner, Seventh Generation Fragrance Free Disinfecting Cleaner with Hydrogen Peroxide.

Waxing your fiberglass tub helps to prolong the life of your tub.  It creates a water- repellant surface making it easier to clean.  Waxing the tub surface also prevents soap scum from sticking and water spots forming.
Wax such as McGuire's, Zymol and Industries GG-1 Gel-Gloss Kitchen and Bath Polish cand be used.
